Noticed 8th January 2017: I've just checked with one of my non-seasonal characters where all six items are in my stash. Four items, The Clipper, Rakanishu's Blade, Splintered Oar and Wirt's Original Leg, are appearing as transmogs for me now (patch 2.4.3).

Drop statistics for patch 2.4.0
Introduction
Before patch 2.0.1 was released there were 6 blue items in the game with a flavor text (similar to the flavor text found on legendary items). These blue items were often denoted "unique blue items" by players and could be found in specific locations, sometimes only on a specific difficulty. After the difficulty remake in patch 2.0.1, many players, including myself, wondered if these items still existed. I decided to find them again in Reaper of Souls and created this post as a result.
In patch 2.1.1, I could finally confirm that all 6 items were still possible to find. In patch 2.4.0, I decided to find them again but this time I kept track of my attempts and have now added a statistics section at the end of the post.
While I originally feared that factors such as game difficulty or selected class could have an effect on whether an item would drop, I no longer believe that this is the case (at least not until I am proved wrong). The only factor I am quite certain have an effect is game mode (Campaign/Adventure), since I've found two of the items in Campaign mode only.
Similarities with legendary items
- The items have a flavor text.
- They are not affected by the blue "Salvage All" button, which salvages magic items, in the Blacksmith.
- They can be enchanted by the Mystic (except for Griswold's Worn Edge). If you do, the item becomes Account Bound.
Similarities with magic items (blue items)
- When salvaged, you get Arcane Dust (and you don't get a warning if you try to salvage them so be careful).
- The items do not provide any transmogs.
- The items are not unique equipped.
The Clipper
Location: | Act 2, Desolate Sands |
Dropped by: | The unique enemy "Nine Toads" |
Item in picture found in: | Patch 2.4.0 (Adventure Mode, level 70 monk, torment 10, softcore, non-season) |
Other info: | Nine Toads is always located in the same rock formation placed randomly on the map. The rock formation may appear without Nine Toads. |
Griswold's Worn Edge
Location: | Act 1, The Old Ruins (Campaign Mode only) |
Dropped by: | An object named "The Anvil of Fury" |
Item in picture found in: | Patch 2.4.0 (Campaign Mode, level 70 monk, torment 10, softcore, non-season) |
Other info: | Searching for this item is straightforward: Teleport to The Old Ruins, run a bit southwest from the waypoint and check whether the anvil spawned. If it did, click it and the sword will drop if you are (very!) lucky. If it didn't drop or if the anvil isn't there, leave the game and try again. |
The Murlocket
Location: | Act 2, Sewers of Caldeum |
Dropped by: | The unique enemy "Moontooth Dreadshark" |
Item in picture found in: | Patch 2.4.0 (Adventure Mode, level 70 monk, torment 10, softcore, non-season) |
Other info: | While equipped, you will be accompanied by a Murloc. |
Rakanishu's Blade
Location: | Act 2, Dahlgur Oasis |
Dropped by: | Fallen Shrine in the event "The Shrine of Rakanishu" |
Item in picture found in: | Patch 2.4.0 (Adventure Mode, level 70 monk, torment 10, softcore, non-season) |
Other info: | Necessary to find if you want to complete the achievement "Bashanishu" (in the "Challenges" section). |
Splintered Oar
Location: | Act 1, Wortham (Campaign Mode only, select "7. The Doom in Wortham" when creating the game) |
Dropped by: | The unique enemy "Urzel Mordreg" |
Item in picture found in: | Patch 2.4.0 (Campaign Mode, level 70 monk, torment 10, softcore, non-season) |
Other info: | Play through the quest until you get to Wortham, where you have to kill the unique enemy Urzel Mordreg. The item always seems to have "level 50" as Required Level. |
Wirt's Original Leg
Location: | Act 1, Den of the Fallen Level 2 |
Dropped by: | A Decayed Fallen Shaman named "Bishibosh's Remains" |
Item in picture found in: | Patch 2.1.1 (Adventure Mode, level 70 monk, torment 3, softcore, non-season) |
Other info: | To get this item, you first need to find Den of the Fallen which spawns randomly in The Weeping Hollow. When you get to the second level in the den, you need to be lucky again to find Bishibosh's Remains instead of a regular Decayed Fallen Shaman. Then you need to be lucky a third time for the leg to actually drop when you click Bishibosh's Remains. In other words: This is NOT an easy item to find. |
Drop statistics for patch 2.4.0
Important: There are too few results for the statistics to be significant. Use the table below as guidance, not as fact.Item | Container | Runs | Container appeared | Item dropped |
Splintered Oar | Urzel Mordreg | 15 | 15 times (100%) | 3 drops (20% of runs, 100% of containers) |
Rakanishu's Blade | Fallen Shrine | 15 | 15 times (100%) | 3 drops (20% of runs - 100% of containers) |
The Clipper | Nine Toads | 40 | 16 times (40%) | 3 drops (7,5% of runs - 18,8% of containers) |
The Murlocket | Moontooth Dreadshark | 300 | 68 times (22,7%) | 2 drops (0,7% of runs - 2,9% of containers) |
Griswold's Worn Edge | The Anvil of Fury | 1100 | 96 times (8,7%) | 1 drop (0,1% of runs - 1,0% of containers) |
Wirt's Original Leg | Bishibosh's Remains | 140 | 16 times (11,4%) | 0 drops |
Some comments:
All runs were done with a level 70 monk on torment 10, non-season and softcore. Runs for Splintered Oar and Griswold's Worn Edge were done in Campaign Mode, runs for the remaining four items were done in Adventure Mode.
Unfortunately, I didn't find Wirt's Original Leg before the patch ended. I might look for it again in another patch.
The event "The Shrine of Rakanishu" and the location "Den of the Fallen" have not been included in the statistics since I don't know if/how bounties affect their spawn rate. It also keeps the table simpler.
Compared to the last time I looked for Griswold's Worn Edge, I feel really lucky to have found it so fast (or maybe I was just unlucky in patch 2.1.1). Considering I knew what drop rate to expect this time... I'm not really sure why I did this again...
Thanks! New list of stuff to find. :)
ReplyDeleteHello farmers,
ReplyDeleteI wish to know if these equipments are still available on 2.4 diablo season and extreme ?
Thanks for answering me
Hello,
DeleteI haven't checked up on these items in quite a while, so unfortunately I can't answer your question at the moment. If you want to try and search for them anyway, I recommend you start with "Splintered Oar" (campaign mode) or "Rakanishu's Blade". They were easier to find than the remaining items.
Confirming that Splintered Oar and Rakanishu's still drop in 2.4, got them both during Season 5.
DeleteNot lucky enough to get any of the others so I can only confirm these two, but I wouled be surprised if they did not.
they all drop as of season 9
DeleteI'm over 400 runs, prob about 20 anvils still no sword. So that's like 4k to find about 200 anvils lol.

DeleteCan confirm wirt's original leg still drops in 2.4.1. just got it in T10 adventure mode.

DeleteThey all drop in patch 2.4.1, I just found Wirt's leg, took about 100 runs = about 20 bishiboh's, here proof

good luck fellas :)
I'm not that lucky, no leg or Griswold after 3 days of farming. What difficulty did you get them on? There is a theory that these unique items (blue uniques and transmog items) drop more frequently on lower difficulties. Also, did you try in Adventure mode or Campaign mode?
DeleteWirts Leg was T6, but I have found in T10 adventure. Sword is only campaign, same, I have found in both T6 and T10. Difficulty doesn't matter.
DeleteI've managed to find all of them but Wirt's. I'm on the PS4 version of the game, and I'm starting to think that the weapon might be MIA. I've done 160 Den runs and of those runs only 16 items have dropped from the corpse. The other thing that sucks is that Bishibosh and the decayed shaman aren't actually named on the PS4 version. So that means that you have no idea which corpse is which. Bah!
Deletejose patino: Can you share Wirt's Leg with me? My battetag is HotStuff2#1322
DeleteI've found Wirt's Leg in patch 2.4.2 in Season 8. Spent almost a week for runs and made around ~500 runs, saw Bishibosh Remains like 30 times. Got leg in public bounty game on Torment 10 - dropped for demon hunter, item level is 9 not 8 as in the picture in this blog.
ReplyDeleteHave found Griswold's Edge too in patch 2.4.2.
Hi folks!
ReplyDeleteToday 2017.01.05 i farmed the "The Clipper" and it PROVIDE transmog.
Thank you for telling me this. :)
DeleteSince I don't know when I'll update the entire post, I've added some transmog info at the top for now.
Can anyone give me wirts transmog ?
ReplyDeleteLochyMacleod#2254 EU
Excellent blog, are you able to share transmogs? Ricardo#2519
ReplyDeleteHello, and thanks :)
DeleteYou can share a transmog with another player if you still have the original item and if the item doesn't have an "Account Bound" label at the lower right corner.
If your question is a request for a transmog post then I don't have any planned (yet).
Thanks for this great blog :)
ReplyDeleteI found Wirts original Leg today after 1309 runs,
849 times Den of the Fallen (65% of runs),
70 times Bishibosh and 23 times Bishibosh invitations (~8% of Den of the Fallen),
only one drop of Wirts original Leg (~1% of Bishibosh).
All runs were done with
Patch 2.4.3 non season SC WD level 70 (turbo chicken), difficult T1-T13 (found on T6)
Is very hard to find this item ^^
Good luck for all seekers :)

Wirt's Original Leg 1
lI'm on the PS3 version (yeah, I know), and just got Wirt's Leg a few hours ago (have had both Rakanishu's Blade and The Murlocket since forever). The Leg looks awesome on my Wiz, whose Source is a transmogged skull. I began farming it around 4pm on a Sunday afternoon, finally dropped at 12:03 AM, Monday morning. Anyone else still on the old school consoles can find it, and they all have transmogs. Already folks on last gen are asking me what it is--you'd maybe be surprised at how many folks have never seen or heard of these items. I still get 'wtf' messages because my WD is holding a Starmetal Kukri that looks like a hamburger.
ReplyDeleteHey Maurice did you find the leg on adventure or campaign mode on PS3? Also are you playing The Ultimate Evil edition of the game?
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteAdventure mode PS3, UEE. Again, it took FOREVER, and I've been back there several dozen times since to farm the chest inside and no leg. Probably the rarest item in the game.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteAlso--forgot to mention I have Griswold's Worn Edge, as well. Oh, the hell I endured farming for THAT thing. I'm used to farming for long stretches--became a multimillionaire in Everquest by farming out-of-the-way places and soloing rare mobs for uber loot--so going for these items was no big deal, but JEEZ, are they rare. Rakanishu's Blade can be compared a common drop compared to the Leg and the sword. I assumed the sword would have a worn, ancient, sort of pitted and cracked look--which I wanted--but it was just a plain sword, and I already had that model in my transmog list.
ReplyDeleteI really need Wirts Original leg on EU. NeCoN#2914
ReplyDeletelast transmog I miss in the game. I can share alot of transmogs or farm some bounties for you! I used 26 hours farming it now with no luck.
I can share all the other blue transmogs and alot of other stuff.
DeleteI got it now.. patch 2.6 all still in game.
DeleteCan you share with me pls? pls, pls, pls...
DeleteHas one still wirts orginal leg and could it as transmog short?

ReplyDeleteUpdate on the PS4! All items drop! Finally got the leg! 18 months and 2000 attempts later! Transmog unlocks too!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking for Wirt's Original Leg, can share Griswold's Worn Edge, Splintered Oar, Rakanishu's Blade, The Clipper, The Murlocket..
ReplyDeletebattletag: byandrey#21574
Found the following as of 2.6.1
ReplyDelete1. Wirts Original Leg
2. Splintered Oar
3. Rakinishus Blade
I just got Griswold's Worn Edge. There is no transmog for it, it's the same as a short sword
ReplyDeleteAlso if anyone has Wirt's Original Leg or King Maker transmog on normal or hardcore, can you share it with me?
DeleteMy B-Net ID: Voody#1633
Thanks to all posters commenting with updates, I didn't lose hope and got Griswold's Worn Edge after 1436 attempts. Still looking for Wirt's Original Leg ...
ReplyDeleteHello I have Oar, Blade and the Clipper to share. Wenzy#1166 looking for the necklace and the Wirt's Leg please!!!
ReplyDeleteLooking for the wirt's original leg too, I noticed that the item's minimum level requirement of spawning is lvl 20. does being level 20 increases the drop chance? or would it be a flat 1-5% out of all bishibosh corpses.

In season, some people starting off use this technique to get an early Circle of Nailuj Evol. Does the same principal apply?
found it, T3:
ReplyDeleteWeeping hollow: 1098
Den runs: 749 (60%)
Bishibosh Corpse: 71 (9.48%)
Wirt's Original Leg Drop: 1 (1.41%)
time: ~31 hours

ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI am also looking for the original leg of wirt and I would like to clarify some doubts.
Currently the people who have found it on what difficulty was it?
It is a transfiguration and the appearance can be applied to other objects or is it just an object that is only equipped?
Is it more likely to drop on normal difficulty or looking for it in torment XIII increases the probability of to drop?
If someone else is looking for it, we can make a group to warn when the bishibosh body is found. Server EU
I found mine on T6. It does apply the transmog to other 1 handed maces, swords and axes. Difficulty really doesn't matter for this item. It can drop on any and all of them.
DeleteWirt's Original Leg found today - I didn't keep track of Den runs, but it took about 25 Bishibosh corpses. The real kicker is that it dropped the ONE time I decided to lower the difficulty after I found his remains from T16 to Normal, even though I know that difficulty doesn't matter. I also had a friend, level 5, log in last night and teleport to me to loot him -- dropped some random blue. Took a bunch of screenshots if anyone is interested I'll find somewhere to link 'em. Cheers!
